In this post, we compare two of the most common types of glass – sapphire glass and mineral glass – and help you make the right decision for your ADDIESDIVE watch.
1. Sapphire glass – scratch resistance at the highest level
Sapphire crystal is one of the hardest materials in the watch world. With a Mohs hardness of 9 (only diamond is harder), it is virtually insensitive to scratches. Many of our premium models, such as the ADDIESDIVE AD2059 or AD2087, use genuine synthetic sapphire crystal – ideal for adventurers, divers or frequent wearers.
Advantages:

2. Mineral glass – the affordable everyday companion
Mineral glass is hardened glass that is made more resistant through special processes. With a Mohs hardness of about 5–6, it is not quite as scratch-resistant as sapphire, but it is much more shock-resistant. It can be found in many of our popular entry-level models such as the AD2094 or AD2030 – perfect for everyday use.
Advantages:

Disadvantages:
✘ More susceptible to small scratches over time
✘ Lower transparency compared to sapphire glass
